ASHENDON PUB COMMUNITY SHARE OFFER IS OPEN!
Ashendon Community Pub Society is thrilled to have launched its much-anticipated Share Offer. Thank you to all those who came along to the event to help us celebrate and learn about the Offer and our Vision for a community pub. We had a full house, and it was heartwarming to welcome so many supporters from our surrounding villages.
It's Time to Buy Your Shares
We have already secured government funding of £300,000. The Society now needs to raise a further £300,000 over the next six weeks through this Community Share Offer to allow us to acquire, renovate, and reopen the pub. This includes selecting a tenant whose approach best benefits the community.
Minimum Investment is Only £100
Can we count on your support at this critical time? Generous members of the wider community have already pledged a total of £168,600. Now that our Prospectus is published and we have the trust and financial backing of the government to make the pub a success, we hope even more community members will invest whatever they can to ensure this one window of opportunity does not slip through our fingers.
What Do I Need to Know Before I Buy Shares?
The Share Offer Prospectus provides all the information we believe you need to decide whether to become a co-owner of the pub. There is supplementary information in The Business Plan and The Society Rules. These documents, along with comprehensive information about the journey so far, the community benefit society, and why community pubs are thriving in the UK, can be found at www.ashendoncps.com
Our Vision for a Community Pub
Our immediate priority is to secure the freehold of the pub to preserve it for the community. Our vision is to create an inclusive community hub that will offer excellent, straightforward drinks and food plus new opportunities for daytime connections while enjoying coffee and cake. It will be as environmentally friendly as possible, showcase local suppliers, be a home to foster and support inter-village sports, social clubs, and fundraising, and be a place for local businesses to meet and, over time, for visitors to stay the night.
Your Stake in the Future
· Saving the Ashendon pub from being lost forever
· Maintaining property values and residential desirability of Ashendon and neighbouring villages
(Hamnett Hayward indicated properties in communities without a pub are valued 5-10% less.)
· Having a say in the community-focussed vision for the pub
· Recreating a welcoming space for dining, socialising and community clubs and events
· Upholding the friendly and connected nature of our local villages
· Potentially earning modest interest on your investment after 3 years, subject to Terms
This is a social value and quality-of-life investment; the nature of a Community Benefit Society is that it cannot pay dividends, and shares cannot be transferred but they can be withdrawn subject to Terms shared in the Prospectus. All members get an equal say, regardless of how many shares they hold, which drives community inclusiveness.
